Blogger, writer, literarian, word nerd, copy editor/proofreader, theological muser, coffee drinker, taco addict.
Offering freelance copy editing, line editing, proofreading and copy writing. While the physical red pen has become mostly obsolete, I wield my theoretical pen, specializing in reviewing written materials for a variety of audiences to ensure they are written correctly, cleanly and concisely. My love for reading, writing and editing began at the ripe age of four with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles chapter book. I’ve since progressed in my literary preferences but have a soft spot for those pizza-loving reptilian ninjas.
During the day I specialize as a PR/marketing/communications professional. Any freelance work I take cannot pose a conflict of interest with this and I will decline the opportunity upon review.
In high school I completed four years of Honors English and wrote/edited for the school newspaper. I also contributed articles to our local county branch newspaper of The Daily Herald. In college I wrote and edited for Northern Illinois University’s Northern Star newspaper while moonlighting in journalism and English literature classes. I was also the public relations chair member for Sigma Tau Delta. I have provided writing and editing services to organizations like MainStreet Libertyville and motivational speaker/historian Barry Bradford. Please visit my Testimonials and Portfolio pages to learn more. I am a member of the American Copy Editors Society (ACES).
Prices for copy editing and proofreading are negotiable, but I typically charge $30 an hour at a rate of about 6-8 pages per hour (depending on the depth of editing). I will provide an initial edit and proofread of the first few pages or paragraphs (depending on length of piece) along with thoughts/commentary for free so we can determine whether we would be a good fit.
