2015, Whoa

Hey guys.

So 2015, amirite?! Ok, I know I haven’t written in a long while and the five of you who regularly read my blog are probably seriously jonesin’ for some Carlene right about now.

I have a ton of updates–and by a ton I mean exactly two–but they’re big, so bear with me here.

One. I moved. Yes, I moved from my apartment in Libertyville, IL, to my hometown of Wauconda. For real. I never thought I would leave Libertyville, but several things were tugging at my heart that I could not ignore if I’m planning to stay obedient to God. First, my family is here in (or near) Wauconda, including my beloved niece and nephew. Second, my Fusion people, or Feeps, are here and I was missing out on some serious fellowship time with them. Third, mission. Quite simply, I felt called to Wauconda to pour into the people in this town, to help them see and understand Jesus. Fourth. God pretty much paved the way and made finding a place and actually moving as easy and stress-free as a move could possibly be.

Ok, so big move out of the way. Two. I’m going on a mission trip. In October I am joining a group through Campus Crusade called Fek, for a trip called Bringing into the Hungarian Harvest. So, we’re going to Hungary, where we will meet with high school and college students to just talk about life and share our stories and the Gospel. The best way I’ve seen Gospel sharing happen is through fellowship, so that’s what we’re going to do. Just hang out with students, organize some events for them, and show them Jesus. This is HUGE for me. I’m an introvert, so solo downtime for recovery is essential to my sanity. I will need to rely on God’s strength to keep me going.

I will also be relying on God to provide for me financially. I need to raise about $2,500 to cover my airfare, ground transportation, food and lodging. Any leftover funds will go toward the events for the students. This. is. terrifying. I’ve never raised funds before and I don’t really like to ask people for money unless I’m physically giving them something in return (I could sell the shit out of those Girl Scout cookies). The only thing I have to offer people is my undying gratitude and the promise that I’m going to do some good for God in Hungary. Oh, and I plan to take lots of pictures and then chronicle each day upon my return.

If you’d like to help me, you can donate at http://www.aimconnects.org, and click the Donate button, then let me know you gave so I can let them know it is for me. If you’d like more information about Bringing into the Hungarian Harvest, visit http://fek.hu/partners/bhhp-2014-vision/.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support!
